Environment

Al Ghurair Group has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability through a wide range of initiatives across all of its units. A Partner Member of the Clean Energy Business Council, Al Ghurair has taken a proactive stance towards reducing its carbon footprint through the initiation of solar projects across its properties and manufacturing facilities. Multiple energy and water saving projects are also carried out throughout the Group with efficiency improvements captured through innovative lighting solutions, improved air circulation and chiller upgrades. Waste reduction and recycling are further key tools employed by units to enhance their sustainability. Controllable waste is minimized as much as possible, and the remainder is either recycled back into production or repurposed for other uses. Active participation in global initiatives such as COP28 UAE by the Group entities further underscores Al Ghurair Group's position as a frontrunner in efforts towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Social

Al Ghurair Group places paramount importance on social responsibility, as reflected in the diverse range of initiatives aimed at enhancing employee wellness and fostering community engagement. The Group's steadfast commitment to employee well-being is exemplified first and foremost through the strict adherence to Health and Safety protocols which are tracked carefully and comprehensively across all units to limit workplace accidents to a minimum. Health screenings such as flu shot drives and eye examinations are conducted throughout the year and awareness sessions on topics such as diabetes, cancer and stress management are also provided. Across the Group, the emphasis is on creating a diverse and inclusive culture, with clear policies in place to foster a merit-based work environment with opportunities for learning and development. Al Ghurair Group and its subsidiaries continue to achieve significant progress towards Emiratization, by recruiting and developing the UAE talent. Social events such as off-sites, sports days, recognition awards and company iftars, are much anticipated and enjoyed events conducted throughout the year. The Group’s Corporate Governance structure has been reinforced in recent years with the addition of specialist Board committees for Audit & Risk, Human Capital, and Strategy. Each committee is chaired by an independent member with deep relevant expertise. Detailed delegation of authority matrices have also been adopted, further enhancing controls and accountability within the organization. Al Ghurair Group maintains stringent adherence to certifications and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements across all entities. Regular audits and inspections are employed to certify that Group companies are upholding the best international standards. The Group's Whistleblower policy, managed by a reputable third-party provider, serves as a cornerstone in fostering a culture of integrity and accountability. The Group's commitment to ethical conduct is further reinforced through policies and training and awareness sessions overseen by the Group Legal and Compliance Department. Meanwhile, risk management is addressed through the Internal Audit function, reporting to the Board Audit & Risk Committee, which conducts frequent assessments across the Group to identify significant risks, test for control gaps and recommend corrective actions to management.
